Driving Community Change. Protecting Rights. Empowering Futures.

Through the Chaguo Langu Haki Yangu (CLHY) Programme, WiLDAF implemented high-impact community dialogues in Kahama District, reaching over 29,000 community members, including women, men, and students, and creating a powerful platform for awareness, engagement, and collective action.

This transformative initiative addressed critical and deeply rooted issues such as Gender-Based Violence (GBV), child marriage, and Female Genital Mutilation (FGM) by directly engaging communities, schools, and institutions through inclusive, participatory dialogue approaches.

The intervention successfully strengthened community awareness, social accountability, and protection systems, while empowering Community Development Officers (CDOs) and local stakeholders to act as agents of change. Through these dialogues, communities were able to openly discuss sensitive issues, identify protection gaps, and take collective responsibility in addressing harmful practices.

The programme also enhanced collaboration between schools, health facilities, and local authorities, improving referral pathways and response mechanisms for survivors of violence and vulnerable groups. Importantly, it created safe spaces for students and community members to raise critical concerns, including child protection violations, unsafe learning environments, and social challenges affecting their wellbeing.

By breaking the culture of silence, promoting human rights awareness, and encouraging behavioral change, the initiative has laid a strong foundation for sustainable community transformation.

Empowered communities, increased reporting and awareness, strengthened protection systems, and a growing movement committed to safeguarding the rights, dignity, and future of women and children.
