Emergency Response System

Gender based Violence (GBV) survivors’ needs immediate attention at the moment they experience violation of their rights. WiLDAF in responding and preventing GBV especially Violence Against Women and Children (VAWC) prevention, WiLDAF has unique system to help VAWC survivors, we have an Emergency Response System (ERS) to assists GBV survivors in obtaining immediate required services. WiLDAF in partnership with the government and other Networking organizations provide legal aid services, Counseling and emotion support services, psychological services, medical services, shelter and other services.   1. Legal aid service

Legal aid department is working 24/7 in responding to the GBV related incidences reported physically open from Monday to Thursday, (07:30 a.m. to 04:30 p.m.) and Friday (from 07:30 a.m. to 01:30 p.m.). The legal aid services link directly contacted GBV survivors with Police Gender desk and health services provider’s officials for further action.

In expanding women’s access to justice, WiLDAF formed legal aid secretariat: Tanzania Legal Aid providers (TANLAP). This network deals with the coordination of legal aid provision services and the enhancement of human rights awareness creation to non-governmental organizations. The Network sets standards for the range of services to be provided and recommends ways of improvement.

      2. Strengthening of referral system for GBV survivors

WiLDAF in collaboration with stakeholders work to strengthen GBV survivor’s Directory in order to ensure high-quality care for survivors of GBV and access to legal services. The GBV referral directory is updated from time to time to accommodate new service providers in respective areas.
