Women’s meaningful participation and influence are essential to ensuring that Tanzania’s constitutional reform process reflects the rights, aspirations and priorities of women and girls.
WiLDAF Tanzania brought together women’s rights organisations and their allies to strengthen collective action and strategic engagement in the constitutional reform process. The meeting provided a platform for stakeholders to reflect on the opportunities and challenges for women’s participation and to identify practical approaches for ensuring that women’s voices are effectively represented throughout the process.
Key areas of focus included the development of a Common Agenda for Constitutional Reform that reflects women’s rights and gender equality priorities, strengthening coordination mechanisms among women’s rights organisations and allies, and identifying strategic advocacy priorities and entry points for women’s meaningful participation and influence.
The meeting reaffirmed the importance of collective action, coordinated advocacy and sustained engagement in shaping a constitutional reform process that is inclusive, participatory and responsive to the needs and aspirations of women across Tanzania.
WiLDAF Tanzania remains committed to working with women’s rights organisations, civil society, government and other stakeholders to strengthen women’s collective voice and advance a constitutional reform process grounded in equality, justice and gender-responsive governance.
