Transforming Norms: Advancing Inclusive Leadership at Community Level

Recognizing the critical role of men and boys in transforming harmful norms and advancing gender equality, Wanawake Sasa, through the support of WiLDAF and the Embassy of Ireland, continues to engage them as allies and champions of change.

The programme equips participants with practical knowledge of local governance and accountability systems, including Ward Development Committees, Village Councils, and Mtaa/Neighborhood Committees. By strengthening their understanding of these structures, participants are empowered to use existing community platforms to advocate for women’s rights and promote inclusive, gender-responsive leadership.

In addition, the initiative builds awareness and practical skills on addressing violence against women in politics and elections. Participants are supported to identify, prevent, and report incidents of violence, contributing to safer and more inclusive democratic spaces.

Through this approach, the programme contributes to strengthening women’s and girls’ meaningful participation in leadership and decision-making processes, fostering communities that uphold equality, accountability, and justice.
