WiLDAF Tanzania Participates in Day of the African Child 2026 Commemoration

In commemoration of the Day of the African Child 2026, WiLDAF Tanzania joined development partners, government stakeholders, and civil society organizations working on children’s rights and welfare in a multi-stakeholder dialogue focused on improving access to safe water, sanitation, and child-friendly environments.

The dialogue provided a platform to reflect on the critical link between children’s health, education, and access to essential services such as clean and safe water, adequate sanitation facilities, and proper waste management systems. The discussions also highlighted the disproportionate impact of inadequate sanitation infrastructure on adolescent girls, particularly in relation to dignity, health, and school attendance.

As part of its ongoing commitment to child participation and protection, WiLDAF Tanzania, through its Safe Schools Clubs initiative, facilitated the participation of students and teachers in the dialogue. This engagement enabled children to share their lived experiences, express their concerns, and actively contribute to discussions on issues affecting their well-being.

WiLDAF Tanzania recognizes that meaningful participation of children is fundamental in shaping inclusive policies and interventions that respond to their needs. Ensuring access to safe water, sanitation, and hygiene (WASH) is a basic right and a key foundation for creating safe, inclusive, and supportive environments where every child can learn, grow, and thrive.
