International Widows Day Webinar
This International Widows Day, women and gender equality actors are advocating for inheritance law reforms that will protect and guarantee women’s and young women’s inheritance rights as well as combat socialcultural norms and practices that limit women from
realizing their inheritance rights to property and land.
WiLDAF Tanzania in collaboration with Landesa Tanzania through the Stand for Her Land campaign have organized a strategic webinar session to gather more than 100 participants from multidisciplinary and diverse groups such Government Officials, Media, NGOs, CBOs, and Faithbased Organizations, Widows Associations, Women’s Rights Organizations and Private Sector to reflect and strategize on bridging the policy and practice gap to strengthen women’s land rights, especially for widows.
The session has the following specific objectives:
(i) Increase knowledge and share experiences and best practices on how diverse stakeholders can secure and protect land rights for widows.
(ii) Promote secure widows’ land rights for economic empowerment.
(iii) Catalyze a sustained national and grassroots movements for women’s land rights.
(iv) Create an understanding of inheritance law gaps and shortfalls that call for reforms.
